Epic Reveals Next-Gen Fortnite Update For PS5, Xbox Series X

Epic Games today announced the most unsurprising announcement to come from its workshop in recent times – that concerning a free update to Fortnite meant to optimize the game for the next generation of gaming consoles.

More specifically: Sony’s PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s pair of Xbox Series X and Series S systems, all of which are about to become available for purchase in just a few weeks‘ time at most, depending on the exact country or market we are talking about.

The next-gen update is due to arrive next week and will ensure you are able to continue your Fortnite adventures with your progress intact even after you upgrade to a new gaming console or two… or three, as a matter of fact. Meaning the next-gen iteration of Fortnite will be available from the very first day of any of the new consoles’ market availability. It includes native support for 4K gameplay at 60 frames per seconds, or the 1080p/60fps equivalent for the Xbox Series S.

Faster matchmaking, shorter loading times, improved physics, and dynamic visual effects upgrades are all part of the package, as well, Epic confirmed in its latest content update expose published on the official Fortnite blog.
