Lachlan, a famous YouTube video creator from Australia, is getting his own Fortnite skin, Epic Games confirmed in a blog post which went out a couple of hours ago.
He is far from the first content creator to be honored in this way but as far as YouTube goes, this announcement does suggest Fortnite is now shifting closer toward Internet personalities than big brands such as Marvel as far as cross-promotions are concerned.
Lachlan himself said this is a dream come true type of scenario for him; one that he has quite literally been dreaming about since first falling in love with the beta version of Fortnite back in 2017. The actual skin that this partnership will yield has yet to be revealed but its official unveiling shouldn’t be more than a few weeks away, at most.
Just for some extra context if you’re not familiar with Lachlan, his YouTube channel is close to hitting 14 million subscribers, so he’s a pretty big deal in terms of raw numbers even when you try to contextualize his success outside of the confines of the Fortnite creator community.
The Lachlan x Fortnite skin is to be launched as part of the ongoing Icon Series that already saw numerous unique skins added to Fortnite’s Item Shop.
